Speech of World Disability Union on the Occasion
Of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities
On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we extend our deepest thanks and appreciation to the countries that have made significant efforts in cooperation with the World Disability Union, through providing environmental accessibility and developing infrastructure that supports the needs of persons with disabilities—reflecting a genuine commitment to the principles of justice and equality.
We also highly commend the countries for enacting laws and regulations related to persons with disabilities, aimed at protecting their rights, empowering them, and ensuring an environment that guarantees their full participation in all aspects of life.
We would also like to express our gratitude to the organizations representing persons with disabilities for their tireless efforts in serving this community, advocating for their rights, and raising public awareness about their issues and their vital role in society.
We call upon all public and private institutions to continue supporting this group by providing real opportunities for persons with disabilities to integrate into society, whether through education, training, employment, or community participation, enabling them to contribute effectively to development and progress.
In conclusion, we say to our brothers and sisters with disabilities:
You are a strength in your communities, and your contributions are a source of pride. We believe in your abilities and are confident that your talents can make a difference. Continue developing your skills and pursuing your ambitions, for society needs your creativity and excellence—you are an essential part of its growth and advancement.
Wishing you all a meaningful and empowering day, and May the world continue moving toward greater inclusion and equality for all.
